euro4minCeylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) launched European Emission Standard Euro 4 fuel on Monday 2nd July 2018. The introduction of Euro 4 fuel to the local energy sector will propel the Government’s vision to transform its core energy products to meet the European Emission Standards. The highly efficient Euro 4 fuel will substitute the existing 95 octane petrol and Super Diesel 4 star, thus offering consumers a better product that is of low emission and high in fuel efficiency.

Speaking to the media, Minister of Petroleum Resource Development Arjuna Ranatunga expressed; “As a government owned corporation it is imperative that CPC supports the Government of Sri Lanka in transforming the energy sector by adapting to greener initiatives. By introducing Carbon Conscious products such as Euro 4, not only are we able to contribute towards the global initiative of reducing CO emission but also enable local consumers and industrial sector to reap the benefits of greener products that would improve the overall quality of life.”

The Euro 4 fuel will provide greater benefits to modern vehicles by further reducing CO emissions and extends the efficiency of the engines of motor vehicles that are running on 92 Octane Petrol and Diesel type fuel. “We as a nation need to move forward with the world trends and adapting to international standards to protect the environment is vital. As a Government entity, we are positioning ourselves in becoming the forerunners of transforming the country’s energy sector to greener initiatives. We are grateful to our stakeholders, who constantly keep us updated on the requirements of the Corporation to improve the energy supply of the country in an economical and efficient manner. With the introduction of Euro 4 to the local market, we are aiming to mitigate the air pollution in congested cities and help create a sustainable greener environment for the future generation in the long term,” Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Dhammika Ranatunga noted.
