navalaCeylon Petroleum Corporation has taken steps to seal a filling station in Nawala, opposite to Nawala Open University, today. Pumping Kerosene in to bowsers is an illegal act. Emergency raids unit revealed that Nawala filling station has engaged in the above illegal act. Emergency raids unit has suspected that bulk of Kerosene was about to deliver to a factory or to another place. They have taken steps to seal the filling station until investigation complete.

Even though CPC bears Rs. 26 of loss from 1 liter of Kerosene, they consider it as a relief providing to the public. Hon.Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga stated that they will consider about the fraudulent people who misuse the relief given to people. Minister Arjuna Ranatunga stated that he won’t forgive anyone who has engaged in mixing kerosene with diesel. He stressed out that he will take actions against those people and who are abetting according to the law of the country and the institution. He stated that under the authority of the CPC, they will take actions to cancel the license of the fuel bowsers and sheds.

“We have received several complaints regarding to mixing kerosene with diesel. Price of the 1 liter of kerosene is low. Therefore fraudulent people mixing kerosene with diesel to obtain a high income. Kerosene is using for buses instead of Diesel. Our ministry and the CPC are paying more attention to this issue. Investigation units in our ministry and the CPC have already started emergency investigations and raiding. We have taken legal actions against those who have proven their guilty by laboratory tests. As an examples, we have banned selling fuel in a Nawula shed and suspended the license of a fuel bowser for mixing kerosene with diesel while transporting fuel to Kurunegala fuel distribution center. We are processing to take legal actions against them. We consider it as a relief given to people. We are discussing to stabilize a procedure to offer this relief to the people, but not to the fraudulent people. I urge people to complaint to the nearest police station if any oil mixing issue came up” Minister added.
